ZenPlugs Celebrates Ten Years of Being Protected by SteriTouch® Antimicrobial Technology

Ten years ago British specialists in moulded earpieces and plugs, ZenPlugs, incorporated SteriTouch® antimicrobial technology into its range of universal mouldable kits for the first time. From initial inquiry to its most recent milestone, the marriage of the two products has been an incredible success and is a great testimony to the value and development of the British manufacturing industry.

The unique ZenPlugs kit utilises a specialised material to allow the user to shape and mould a bespoke set of comfortable and long-lasting earpieces or plugs, without the need for professional equipment. Suitable for a variety of activities and lifestyles, ZenPlugs earpieces are compatible with the majority of wired and Bluetooth earphones, in-ear monitors, stethoscopes and earbuds. ZenPlugs also offers a range of moulded earplugs that provide a snug fit and watertight seal,  making them the ultimate solution for swimming, sleeping, surfing and noise cancellation. Furthermore, ZenPlugs earplugs are developed with longevity in mind, allowing the user to remould and heal them if damaged.

The SteriTouch additive is compounded into the unique material to ensure the even distribution of the active substance throughout each earpiece and plug, embedding its antimicrobial properties into the polymer for the lifetime of the product. 

Developed by Radical Materials Ltd, the specialist SteriTouch® additive harnesses the natural antimicrobial properties of silver to significantly reduce the number of harmful microorganisms present on the surface of the material. Tested by independent UK laboratories using the ISO 22196 method, ZenPlugs earpieces and earplugs have been confirmed to reduce up to 99.99% of tested surface bacteria, including Staphylococcus Aureus and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa. These specific microbes are responsible for causing the majority of ear infections and can become significantly prevalent in users of earpieces and earplugs.
