Harlequin Paints Launches Antimicrobial Coating Featuring SteriTouch®

South Africa-based brand, Harlequin Paints has launched a new antimicrobial clear coating named STERISEAL™ featuring SteriTouch® technology.

STERISEAL™ is the first and only coating within the South African market to incorporate antimicrobial technology provided by Radical Materials brand SteriTouch®. Designed with versatility in mind, STERISEAL™ can be applied to a diverse range of finishes including furniture, walls, school desks, hotels, restaurants and many other applications where a hygienic surface is required. The coating can be applied like any other commercially available paint, thus making it a great option for both DIY home decorators and professional contractors.

With over 20 years of experience in the paints & coatings industry, Harlequin Paints has amassed a comprehensive portfolio of products suitable for a range of applications. With its ethos strongly entrenched in the quality, durability and environmental aspects of its products, the brand has always been considered a sustainable alternative for consumers.

In order to meet increased demand for hygienic coating solutions within the South African market, STERISEAL™ utilises silver-ion technology supplied by Radical Materials to ensure around the clock protection against bacteria, mould, mildew and fungi. Additionally, the coating provides excellent resistance to potential damage caused by heat, water, scratches and abrasion. The active ingredient within STERISEAL™ has also been extensively challenged to prove its resilience against the harshest cleaning chemicals including bleach and MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone).

Tested by independent UK laboratories using the ISO 22196 method, STERISEAL™ has been confirmed to reduce up to 99.99% of tested surface bacteria, including E.coli and Staphylococcus Aureus.
